Custody death: case against 4 police officials registered

Indore, Oct 22 (UNI) A case has been registered against four police officials, for unintentional murder under section 304 of the IPC in connection with the death of a 27-year-old youth in police custody.

Superintendent of Police Anshuman Yadav said a case had been registered against Station House Officer D P Ahirwar, constables Shailendra Sisodia, Shailendra Bais and Ravi Yadav.

Members of Khati community and Youth Congress today staged a 'dharna' demanding registering of a murder case against guilty policemen.

Ghanshyam, detained in a theft case on October 19, was allegedly beaten up in custody. He was admitted to Maharaja Yashwantrao Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

An agitated mob vandalised the Heeranagar police station in the city and set ablaze vehicles parked at its premises on October 20, to protest the incident.

Mr Yadav said that the Station House Officer and two other police officials had been suspended after the incident.

The district authorities ordered a magisterial inquiry in this regard.

The District and Sessions Judge has ordered an inquiry by Judicial Magistrate Musa Khan into the incident.

A case has been registered against unidentified people regarding vandalism at the police station. No arrests has been made so far.
