Chinese shoe factory fire kills 34

BEIJING, Oct 22 (Reuters) A fire at a Chinese shoe factory killed 34 people, state media said today.

Past night's fire, at the unlicensed factory in Putian in the southeastern province of Fujian, was put out within an hour, Xinhua news agency said, adding that 21 people were injured.

An investigation was under way.
