About 400 kg explosives recovered in Palamu

Daltonganj, Oct 22 (UNI) In a joint operation conducted by district police and Central Reserve Police Forces (CRPF), about 400 kg explosives were recovered from a water tank in Chak village in Palamu district today.

Talking to newspersons, Superintendent of Police Udyan Kumar Singh said acting on an information obtained from a CPI(Maoist), raids were conducted in the village from where the explosives were recovered.

The ultra, identified as Ravi, was handed over to district police by the Bihar police two days back.

'' We had information about the ultra's presence in the district but he managed to escape from police and entered the neighbouring Gaya district, '' Mr Singh said.

The raids were conducted on the basis of the information and the explosives kept in a plastic bag inside a water tank was recovered from one Sahabuddin's house of the Manatu police station of the district.

The explosives had the address of Nagpur, he added.

Police had detained one Jalim Mian for interrogation.
