Police teams formed to trace 'missing' Professor

Hyderabad, Oct 21 (UNI) The city police have formed special teams to trace a Chicago-based Indian professor, who went missing nearly two weeks ago during his visit to the city.

Feroze Syed (38), a Management Research Fellow in Pennsylvania, in the US, was last seen at a jewellery shop.

The teams were sent to Bangalore to trace his whereabouts, based on his mobile SIM card which was traced there, police said.

Mr Syed, who had checked into a hotel at Gowliguda area, was reportedly carrying Rs three lakh in cash and a laptop. He left his hotel room for shopping at 1130 hrs on October seven and did not return. A complaint was registered with Afzalgunj police station.

His wife Azra Syed, a software engineer in the US, arrived here on October 19 along with her Mumbai-based brother, Javed Khan. The family members also met city police commissioner Balwinder Singh and urged him to trace the professor.

Mr Syed, a native of Pune, had come to India from the US, on a month-long visit. After visiting Mumbai, Pune and Bangalore, he had arrived here on October 6 and went missing from the next day, police added.
