Police guns down 3 robbers in encounter

Basti, Oct 21 (UNI) The special operation group (SOG) of police gunned down three robbers in an encounter under city kotwali area here today.

Police superintendent Anand Swaroop said the miscreants were on the run after robbing several households and killing a Nepali watchman in Gandhi Nagar locality around 0100 hrs.

On getting the information, police cordoned off the area and engaged the armed miscreants in an encounter.

While, three of them were eliminated early this morning, 2-3 others managed to escape.

The slain criminals were yet to be identified.

Some firearms and cartridges were seized from the spot.

Meanwhile, the SOG team had been given a reward of Rs 2,500.
