Dussehra celebrated in UT

Chandigarh, Oct 21 (UNI) Dussehra was celebrated with great fervor and fan fare in Chandigarh UT.

UT Home Secretary, Mr Krishna Mohan was the chief guest at the main function organized by the Ramlila Committee, Sector 17 here today.

On the occasion Home Secretary said that the festival is not just a source of entertainment but also highlights our culture, values which are so old and rich. He said that it was a matter of pride that these values were still alive in the heart of everybody commemorating and celebrating this festival.

He also took part in the traditional Tilak Ceremony and donated Rs 31,000 on behalf of Chandigarh Administration to the Ramlila Committee, Sector 17.

Effigies Ravana, Meghnath and Kumbhakarna, were set alight at the Ramlila ground.

President, Ramlila Committee, Mr Vinod Sharma, Vice President, Mr Mansoor Ali and other distinguished guests were also present on the occasion.
