DMK urges immediate steps to implement 'SSCP'

Puducherry, Oct 21 (UNI) The puducherry youth wing of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) today urged the Centre to take immediate steps to implement the ''Sethusamudram Shipping Channel Project'' (SSCP).

A resolution to this effect was adopted at the office-bearers meeting of the DMK youth wing held here under its President, R Siva MLA.

Another resolution urged the Centre to initiate action against former Bharatiya Janatha Party (BJP) MP Ramvilas Vedanthi for issuing ''Fatwa'' against party president and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi and condemned the BJP and AIADMK which supported Vedanthi.

Resolutions, urging the Puducherry administration to take steps to modernise the Textile Mills here to provide employment to local youth appropriate action by the police to allay the fears of the public following frequent murders and burglaries, construction of flyovers and implement action of poll promises as done by Mr Karunanidhi in Tamil Nadu, were also adopted in the meeting.
