Akali, Cong supporters clash over land possession
Amritsar, Oct 21 (UNI) Akali and Congress supporters clashed and fired shots in the air near Jallianwala Bagh in the walled city this morning.
According to police sources, a piece of prime land was said to be the reason behind the clash. A group of supporters of Navdeep Goldy, District Congress (urban) president armed with weapons oepned fire at the supporters of Satnam Singh Kanda, of the All India Shiromani Akali Dal.
The supporters of Kanda, some of whom were also armed also opened fire. The police arrived on the scene and took into custody two Congress supporters while the rest managed to flee. However no one was injured in the firing.
The police has registered a case under sections 307, 452, 336, 427, 148 and 149 of IPC and the Arms Act against the Congress supporters.
