Toll rises to 13, more residents to be evacuated

Coimbatore, Oct 20 (UNI) The toll in yesterday's building collapse rose to 13 here today even as the district administration began various steps to evacuate the residents in other 25 blocks in the area which were constructed during the same period.

Heavy rain over the last three days was said to have triggered the collapse of a four-storey-building of Tamil Nadu Slum Clearance Board (TNSCB), killing 12 and injuring 15 at Ukkadam here yesterday.

The mishap occurred even as the district adminstration was evacuating the occupants in view of the risk posed by the weak 35-year-old structure.
