Iran's atomic negotiator resigns: IRNA

Tehran, Oct 20: Ali Larijani, who has fronted Tehran's efforts to defuse an atomic row with the West, has resigned as chief nuclear negotiator, Iran's official IRNA news agency today reported.

''Ali Larijani, the secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, resigned from his position,'' government spokesman Gholamhossein Elham was quoted as saying, adding that President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad had accepted his resignation.

He said the change would not lead to a ''new programme'' by the council and a new secretary would meet EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana this week.
