EC to send special observers for Guj polls

New Delhi, Oct 20: The Election Commission (EC) will send three officials as special observers to Gujarat next week to supervise the revision of electoral rolls and observance of model code of conduct in the coming assembly elections in the state.

According to EC sources, the special observers will be posted each at Surat, Jamnagar and Ahmedabad. They will undertake tours in their areas in North, South and Central Gujarat from October 23 to October 25.

In addition, the EC will dispatch three teams of its officials to the state to oversee poll readiness in Baroda, Surat and Ahmedabad.
