Abducted bank manager murdered

Visakhapatnam, Oct 20 (UNI) State Bank of Indore, Dwarakanagar Branch, Manager K K Prasad, who was kidnapped on Thursday night, was murdered and his half burnt body was traced at Revidi village in this district today.

Police said the abductors had beaten him to death and burnt his body after dousing it with petrol.

Police suspected the hand of realtors behind the death.

Mr Prasad (43), hailing from Karnataka, was recently transferred to the port city.

A Hyderabad report said, the All India Bank Officer's Confederation (AIBOC) expressed shock over the killing of Mr Prasad.

AIBOC Secretary K Ramakoteswara Rao, in a release here, said ''the safety of bank officials should be ensured by the Government as they were discharging their duties on financial matters, more particularly recovery of loans.'' Alleging that the police had not made serious efforts to rescue the bank official from the abductors, he urged the police and intelligence department to arrest the culprits immediately.
