Mumbai, Oct 19: Yahoo India today announced the launch of its 'oneSearch' SMS here.

''We are trying to give value and get more users. As India is a growing market, the handsets sold are mostly economical models. Also many mobile users do not have PCs,'' Yahoo India Chief Operating Officer (Research and Development) Pranesh Anthapur said.

The service will be available through all the major operators and will also be accessible for users who do not have WAP.

Using the 'oneSearch' SMS facility to 58242, customers can search for an array of information from weather, stocks, pubs to news at standard rates with no incremental costs.

Yahoo has also enhanced their existing 'oneSearch' WAP product by introducing new content clusters like business listings and flight status information to the existing features.

On being questioned about Google's launch of a similar service which preceded them, Mr Anthapur denied any reactive move on the part of Yahoo and replied that it was probably a 'co-incidence,' and one can not launch such services in a reactive manner.

Yahoo India was launched in 2000.
