Tendu leaf pluckers given incentive bonus

Bhopal, Oct 19 (UNI) About 74,338 tendu (bidi) leaf pluckers were given incentive bonus of Rs 1.65 crore by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan at a function held yesterday at Damua in Chhindwara district.

Madhya Pradesh is the biggest producer of tendu leaf providing seasonal employment to several lakh people. They were provided wages during collection of tendu leaves and additional incentive was provided out of the sale proceeds.

Mr Chouhan also distributed loans and grants worth Rs 8.35 crore to 3500 beneficiaries under various schemes, official sources said.
