Russia school roof collapse injures nine-report

MOSCOW, Oct 19 (Reuters) Russian schoolchildren were rushed to hospital today after the roof of their school collapsed, the latest accident to hit the state's public buildings, a Russian news agency reported.

Nine children were being treated in hospital after the roof of the 100-year-old school building in Volgoda, central Russia, partially caved in, Interfax news agency quoted the Emergencies Ministry as saying.

Earlier this month at least nine students died and 51 were injured when a fire engulfed a Moscow business institute.

In December last year, 45 patients at a Moscow women's drug treatment clinic died in a fire. A fire at a retirement home in the Kuban region of southern Russia in March this year killed 62 residents and staff.
