Nigerian inflation eases to 4.1 pct in Sept

LAGOS, Oct 19 (Reuters) Nigerian consumer price inflation eased to 4.1 percent year-on-year in September from 4.2 percent in the previous month, the National Bureau of Statistics said on Friday.

The composite consumer price index rose 0.5 percent in the month to 170.2 points, compared to 169.4 points in August, the bureau said in its latest monthly report.

The food index recorded a year-on-year inflation rate of -0.8 percent in September, while the ''all items less farm produce'' index showed prices rising 10.5 percent over the year.

The latter index showed prices rising slightly slower than the previous month's 11.2 percent, but the recent acceleration in this index has raised investor fears of a growing imbalance in the oil-dependent economy.
