Hafed records 64 pc increase in sales

Chandigarh, Oct 19 (UNI) Haryana Cooperative Supply and Marketing Federation Ltd (Hafed) has registered an increase of 64 per cent in the sale of its products during August in comparison to the sales made during the same period last year.

An official spokesman said the progressive sales of Hafed Consumer Products such as Hafed Superior Basmati rice, Pusa Basmati rice, Sharbati rice, Permal rice, Tibar Basmati rice, Dubar Basmati rice, Kachchi Ghani Mustard Oil Agmark Grade-I, Refined Cotton Seed oil, Refined Soyabean oil and Desi Wheat had also shown an increase of 39 per cent during five months (April to August 2007) in comparison to the same period of the previous year.

Region-wise, Delhi led the increase of 177 per cent followed by 71 per cent in Himachal Pradesh, he added. He said the increase in the sales happened due to various steps taken by the organisation to strengthen and streamline its distribution network, improve its quality by making necessary investments in its processing units and various brand image building initiatives. The spokesman said to ensure that the consumers get only the pure products, Hafed was sourcing the raw material like Basmati paddy and Desi Wheat through Contract Farming for which seeds and technical guidance to the farmers was made available by Hafed.
