DAVSSS-8 girls qualify for Deepak Kampania Trophy

Chandigarh, Oct 19 (UNI) DAV Senior Secondary School, Sector 8 recorded a runaway 6-0 victory over Government Senior Secondary School, Khuda Lahora and qualified for the four-team league of the Chandigarh Senior Women Football Championship for the Deepak Kampania Memorial Trophy being conducted by the Chandigarh Football Association at the St Stephen's School ground in Sector 45 here today.

DAVSSS-8 joined St Stephen's School-45, MCM DAV College, Sector 36 and Carmel Convent, Sector 9 in the four-team round robin league.

Dominating throughout the match, DAV Senior Secondary School were awarded two penalties which they converted in a swift action.

The DAV SSS girls opened their account in the third minute when Kanchan sent a good cross from the right flank and Rekha tapped it nicely.

Maintaining their pressure, DAVSSS struck two goals through Neha in the sixth and eighth minutes to established a commanding 3-0 lead.

In the 12th minute, DAVSSS were awarded a penalty as a GSSS Khuda Lahora defenderhandled the ball inside the prohibited area.

Monica converted it with ease. Then Kanchan (20th) and Gurpreet (23rd, penalty) added more goals to increase the victory margin for DAVSSS.

On resumption, Khuda Lahora School girls gave improved performance but failed to match the skills of DAVSSS girls.

Earlier, cricket Dronacharya Desh Prem Azad inaugurated the tournament.

Before the match, one-minute silence was observed in memory of Deepak Kampania.
