Couple killed, three injured in head-on collision

Hoshiarpur, Oct 19 (UNI) A husband and wife died on the spot and three others were seriously injured when the vehicles in which they were travelling collided head-on near Lachowal, 8 Km from here, on Hoshiarpur-Tanda road today .

According to the police sources, Ravinder Sharma of Zirakpur along with his wife Promila Sharma were going to distribute marriage invitation cards of their son from Hoshiarpur to Tanda when Mahindra jeep coming from the opposite side collide head-on with their Maruti car. The couple died on the spot.

The injured identified as driver of Maruti car Paramjit Singh, resident of Ibrahimpur (Mohali), Mahindra jeep occupants Mukhtiar Singh of Kaler (Amritsar) and driver Davinder Singh of Khuari (Amritsar) were admitted in a local Civil Hospital.

Sadar Police has registered a case under sections 304 A, 279, 337 and 427 of the IPC.
