Chennai,

The
opposition
AIADMK
today
urged
the
Tamil
Nadu
Government
to
enhance
the
security
of
the
Leader
of
the
Opposition
J
Jayalalithaa
at
her
residence.
Six of her 40 MLAs, including deputy Leader of the Opposition O Paneer Selvam, in a petition to Director General of police and City Police Commissioner and Home Secretary, submitted that the quality of her security should be upgraded by posting two officers in the rank of DSP as personal security officers.
She had to be given enhanced security in the wake of the recent intrusion into her house, they said.
They said there were two intrusions at Ms Jayalalithaa's residence in the recent past and this had left the inmates of her residence shocked, especially Ms Jayalalithaa, considering the fact that the intruder had come face-to-face with the inmates.
''If the intruder was armed, the consequence would have been disastrous. We hope the government of Tamil Nadu will take immediate action to plug the gap in Ms Jayalalithaa's security'', they said.
