Sitaula, a senior Nepali Congress (NC) leader, played an important role in forging the alliance of the parliamentary parties and the Maoists.
The Maoists quit the coalition government on October 5 after Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala-led Nepali Congress (NC) did not agree on the Maoists' demand for declaring the Himalayan country a republic immediately and polls based on proportional representation.
The Maoists have summoned the special session of the interim parliament to fulfill their key demands. The seven-party alliance has adjourned the special session till October 28 to buy time for discussions before the House goes for voting on the Maoists' proposals.
The poll, which was scheduled for November 22, has been put off indefinitely.
