Mob protests death in road mishap

Allahabad, Oct 18: An irate mob went on rampage near Allahabad High Court, following an accident, in which the member of a chowki committee was crushed to death by a speeding truck late last night, police said today.

The mob blocked the movement of traffic on GT Road and pelted stones' besides torching two vehicles, including a truck, police said.

Later, police resorted to lathicharge to disperse the mob.

The victim, identified as Guddan Nishad (35) of Panchsheel Colony was taking snaps of Civil Lines Rama Dal near the HC, when a speeding truck ran over him, killing him on the spot.

Enraged over the incident, the chowki committee members and locals resorted to chakka Jam and brickbatting.
