Security during festival stepped-up

Kalyan, Oct 14 2007: Security was today stepped up in Maharashtra to provide security to devotees of the Hindu and Muslim communities celebrating their religious festivals of Navratri and Eid.

Hundreds of Hindus and Muslims thronged their respective religious places in Kalyan city in the state"s Thane district that houses a temple close to a mosque. While the Hindus flocked the temple of Goddess Durga, Muslims gathered at the mosque to offer prayers on Eid ul-Fitr.
