UBI partners with IBM to centralise branches
Bangalore, Oct 15 (UNI) Union Bank of India today announced that it had successfully implemented comprehensive infrastructure and technology services with the technical support of IBM India.
IBM was mandated to put in place the server and storage system infrastructure with a focus to centralise UBI's extensive branch network across the country, including those in rural areas.
The scalable hardware platform brought the Bank's 2,274 branches and 135 extension counters under a common IT framework while simultaneously enabling a higher number of transactions. As on date, 1,211 of its branches and extension counters are under CBS network, a release said here.
UBI Chairman and Managing Director M V Nair said ''To meet our growth objectives, we needed to move to a centralised environment where economies of scale, consistency and firm-wide synchronisation of data will bring significant benefits''.
