Tornado wreaks havoc in Bangladesh; injures 40
Dhaka, Oct 15 (UNI) At least 40 villagers were injured and dozens of houses devastated as a tornado hit a village in southern Bangladesh today.
The typhoon that lasted four minutes struck Chabaroshiba village in Charkajol union this afternoon uprooting more than 50 houses and innumerable trees. Of the injured, 10 people were admitted to local health complex.
Patuakhali Deputy Commissioner Meer Mashiur Rahman said local administration and Red Crescent were asked to conduct rescue and relief operations.
Meanwhile, Dhaka Met Office said the squally weather may affect the country's maritime ports due to deep convection over the North Bay.
Maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox's Bazar and Mongla have been advised to hoist local cautionary signal number three.
All fishing boats and trawlers over the North Bay have been advised to remain close to the coast.
