Temperatures plummet in HP after rain

Shimla, Oct 15 (UNI) Temperatures across Himachal Pradesh plummeted today following light showers in mid and lower hills of the state overnight and during the day, the met office said.

The day's minimum temperature at Mashobra, about 14 km from here, fell to 16.3 degree Celsius, while the night temperature stood at 9.4 degree Celsius after recording 3.8 mm rain up to 1730 hrs.

However, the day temperature here fell by over four degrees to stand at 18.3 degree as compared to 22.6 degree Celsius recorded yesterday following light showers overnight and during the day.

The met office said the town's minimum temperature fell by a few notches to 11.2 degree as against 11.4 degree Celsius recorded yesterday.

Temperatures in several other places in the state fell by a few degrees today following light showers and cloud cover during the day. However, the clouds thinned out as the day progressed.

Snow clouds were hovering over the tribal districts of Kinnuar, Chamba and Lahaul Spiti since last night, but there was no report of any rain or snow from these districts up till now.

While the minimum temperatures across the state remained more or less stationary, the maximum temperatures fell by two to four degrees, the met office said.

It said Sundernagar recorded a day temperature of 27.2, Bhuntar 24.2 and Kalpa 14.4 degree respectively as against 30.6, 30.7 and 18 degree Celsius recorded yesterday, while recording night temperatures of 11.8, 10.2 and 3.1 degree Celsius respectively.

The met office said has forecast rain or snow in isolated places of the state during the next 24 hrs.
