SP wants speed in Sethusamudram Project

The
Samajwadi
Party
(SP)
in
Tamil
Nadu
today
urged
the
Centre
to
implement
the
Sethusamudram
Shipping
Channel
Project
(SSCP)
expeditiously.
In a statement here, Party State General Secretary M Neelamegam Yadhav said a resolution to this effect was adopted at the party's state and district office-bearers meeting held under the leadership of State Executive President Elango Yadav yesterday.
The party decided to stage a calling attention demonstration at Chennai during the proposed visit of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh urging him to complete the SSCP expeditiously.
The meeting requested the Union Government to include Pollachi in the newly-formed railway division with headquarters at Salem.
While thanking the Tamil Nadu Government for providing exclusive reservation for Muslims and Christians, the party wanted the government take census of every community for provide quota in education and jobs based on population ratio.
The party wanted the Centre to release a commemorative stamp on Freedom Fighter Veeran Alagamuthukone besides naming the Tuticorin Airport after him.
