New Delhi, Oct 15: The Oil and Natural Gas Corporation"s (ONGC) Director, Ashok Kumar Balyan, has been elected as a Fellow in the World Academy of Productivity Science (WAPS).

The WAPS conferred the fellowship in recognition of Balyan"s significant and longlasting contributions for improvement in quality of work, quality of life and productivity.

Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Ashwini Kumar handed over the fellowship at New Delhi on October 8.

Ratan Tata, J J Irani, M P Narayanan, G H Singhania, Subir Raha, K L Chugh, S K Chowdhury and K G Ramachandran also have this fellowship.

Balyan, a M.Tech (First Position) from IIT, Delhi and PhD in Chemistry from Germany, has been instrumental in catalyzing various human resource development interventions in the ONGC in the last three years.

Apart from human resource, he has also guided the Business Development initiatives of the Oil major, expanding the frontiers of its business presence, in synergy with its inherent HR strengths.
