Group Capt Prakash takes over command of AFS Jammu

Jammu, Oct 15 (UNI) Group Captain V Prakash today took over the command of the Air Force Station, Jammu, from Group Captain J S Kler, who has been posted out to the Air Force Academy, Hyderabad, with promotion as an Air Commodore.

Group Captain Prakash, who was commissioned in to the Indian Air Force on May 28, 1983 as a helicopter pilot, has a long and distinguished service over 24 years, with over 5000 hrs flying to his credit, the Ministry of Defence said.

Besides a variety of Staff and Instructional appointments, the IAF officer has taken part in the Operation Falcon, Rakshak and Rhino.

He was decorated with Vir Chakra for his distinguished services during the IPKF operations in Sri Lanka.

A graduate from Defence Services Staff College, Wellington , Group Captain Prakash has also served as a member of UN Peace Keeping Mission to Congo in 2005.
