'Ashtadhatu' idol of Lord Buddha seized, 2 held

Sultanpur, Oct 15 (UNI) Police here today claimed to have seized an 'ashtadhatu' idol of Lord Bhuddha estimated at several crores of rupees in the international market and arrested two persons in this regard.

Three motorcycle-borne persons were intercepted near Virsinghpur crossing in Jaisinghpur area yesterday, police said.

While, Hasseb and Radhey Krishan were nabbed, another managed to escape.

The Lord Buddha idol weighs 3.5 kgs.

On interrogation, the duo confessed they were on way to sell the idol, which was stolen by their aide Kareem from Delhi.

The arrested have been sent to jail.
