Kathmandu, Oct 13 (UNI) CPN-Maoist party has urged Non Resident Nepalis (NRN) to support in making the Himalayan nation a democratic republic.

Addressing the NRN representatives here, spokesman of the party Krishna Bahadur Mahara said ''We want the intellectual circle, presently living overseas, to understand that monarchy is the root of all problems of Nepal and be a part of the campaign to construct a new Nepal with their expertise and resources.

''Nepal should reap benefits out of the sincere patriotism of NRNs and their ability and resources should be the source of development of this country,'' he said.

He said that a circle of Nepali citizens in the country are doubting and even misunderstanding the contribution and possible future role of the Maoists, adding that the NRN circle, however has ] understood that the past of the Maoists was not futile.

''We do want the constituent assembly (CA) election but we also are very much aware that the polls should not be manipulated at any cost by those who do not want a radical change.

Maoists have been demanding the end of monarchy to ensure free and fair polls, saying that the election is not possible due to the conspiracy of the monarchy.

However, the other political parties want the end of monarchy through the CA polls which has been postponed second time.

The NRN representatives are here to attend the general convention to start from next week.
