Magnitude 5.7 quake hits off Sumatra - USGS
WASHINGTON, Oct 11 (Reuters) A magnitude 5.7 quake struck off Indonesia's Sumatra island today at 0138 IST, the U.S. Geological Survey said.
It said the quake, whose epicenter was in the Indian Ocean 95 miles (153 km) west of Bengkulu, was quite shallow at 11.8 miles deep.
The Sumatra area has been hit by strong quakes in the past few days but no damage or casualties have been reported.
