Mumbai, Oct 11 2007: Born on October 11, 1942, Amitabh Bachchan is a legendary Bollywood actor and one of the most prominent figures in the Indian film industry. The actor turned 65 today.

The son of the noted Hindi poet, Harivanshrai Bachchan, Amitabh was born in Allahabad. With his tall and lean looks, Amitabh became emblematic of the new kind of action hero. Whereas his predecessors played romantic roles, Amitabh introduced the motif of the 'angry young man' to Indian cinema.
