Two history sheeters murdered by gang

Madurai, Oct 11 (UNI) Two history sheeters were murdered by an unidentified gang in the dry bed of river Vaigai in the city, late last night.

Police said R Prabhu (21) and his relative S Manimaran (20), against whom several cases of extortion were pending, were found dead in a pool of blood. Both of them were recently let out on bail from the Madurai central prison.

Passersby, who heard the scream of the duo, informed the police.

A police team rushed to the spot and found the duo dead with multiple cut injuries. The assailants escaped under the cover of darkness.

Police suspect previous enmity to be the reason behind the crime.

Police launched a manhunt to nab the criminals and a sniffer dog was immediately pressed into service.
