IT raid on arrested nephrologist's house

Chennai, Oct 11: Sleuths of the Income Tax department have sealed the house of nephrologist P Ravichandran, arrested by the Mumbai police for his alleged involvement in an international kidney transplantation racket, after conducting raids.

IT officials and police personnel raided Dr Ravichandran's house at suburban Mugalivakkam and reportedly made some seizures.

The nephrologist was arrested earlier this week along with two of his accomplices by the Mumbai police, who claim that he had performed 40 to 100 illegal kidney transplants every year since 2002. While the recipients were mostly foreigners, the donors were said to be drawn from various parts of the country through touts.
