Mumbai, Oct 10 (UNI) The Central Railway (CR) today announced to reinstate V-26, which departs from the Vashi suburban station at 0913 hrs and arrives at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) at 1001 hrs as partial ladies special (3 coaches from CSTM-end) reserved exclusively for women commuters from October 12.

This train is in addition to PL-28, which departs from Panvel at 0816 hrs and arrives at CSTM at 0933 hrs, and which also runs as partial ladies special (3 coaches from CSTM-end) reserved exclusively for lady commuters, a CR official clarified today.

The decision comes in the wake of the uproar created by the women commuters, who barged into the general compartment of the suburban train and barred the men from entering into it on Tuesday to protest against the decision of the CR to remove the special compartments for women in the 0914 hrs Vashi-CST local.

On October 2, the CR had introduced 25 new services on the harbour line and altered the time table on the route. Due to this, the earlier 0914 hrs Vashi-CST local was advanced to 0913 hrs and the three rear compartments that were earlier reserved for women were scrapped.
