Two beggars killed, three injured by speeding bus

Amritsar, Oct 10: Two beggars were crushed to death and three others seriously injured by a speeding private bus near Bhandari Bridge in Amritsar City this morning.

Police sources, quoting eyewitnesses, said that the speeding bus suddenly veered towards the footpath and ran over a group of beggars sleeping there.

The driver of the bus fled after the accident.

The deceased have been identified as Vijay Kumar and Anna. The injured, identified as Sunny, Marathi and Allahbadi, were rushed to hospital by the commuters, police said.

According to the police though the details about the victims were not known, they seemed to be migrants.

The police had registered a case and investigations were on.
