Ruling groups retain 140 gram panchayats in Kolhapur

Kolhapur, Oct 10 (UNI) While ruling groups managed to retain power in 140 gram panchayats, various fronts emerged victorious in around 90 other villages in this district in the local bodies election held last Sunday.

The elections were not contested on party lines but various fronts were in the fray.

Of the total 478 gram panchayats in the district, members of 106 gram panchayats were elected unopposed and elections were held in the remaining 372 gram panchayats.
