Protest march against Sethusamudram project

Jalandhar, Oct 10 (UNI) Sant Samaj under the aegis of Rameshwaram Ram Sethu Raksha Manch today took out a protest march in the city against the proposed Sethusamudram project in Tamil Nadu.

Addressing the gathering, the Sant Samaj warned the Central government not to proceed further on the proposed Sethusamudram project.

"If the government did not pay any heed to our demands by November 30, then people from all over the country will proceed towards Rameshwaram to protect Ram Sethu," they asserted.

The Sant Samaj compared Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi with demon king Ravana, for his critical remarks against Ram Sethu.

They also criticised Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress president Sonia Gandhi for not protecting Ram Sethu from demolition.

They alleged that the Centre was under pressure from the US to break the ancient Ram Sethu bridge so that America could make it an international water border and exploit largest thorium reserve of world.
