Modi rescues girl at PDPU inaugural function

Gandhinagar, Oct 10 (UNI) Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi rescued a young girl whose clothes accidentally caught fire while performing the traditional lamp dance at Raisan village.

The incident took place at the inauguration ceremony of Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University here last evening, which was being presided over by Mr Modi. Reliance Industry Chairman Mukesh Ambani and alumni of petroleum, energy and education sector were also present on the occasion.

During the ceremony, a young girl's dupatta caught fire while she was performing the traditional lamp dance. The girl was so engrossed in her dance that she didn't notice the flames. However, Mr Modi noticed it and rushed to rescue the girl, but, his bodyguards reached to the girl first and doused the fire.

Later, the function continued as per schedule and ended without any further trouble.
