Devi Lal Vidyapeeth implements fee waiver scheme

Hisar, Oct 10 (UNI) Jan Nayak Ch Devi Lal Vidyapeeth, Sirsa has decided to implement the 'tuition fee waiver scheme' for women, economically backward and physically handicapped meritorious students.

Prof Kuldip Singh Dhindsa, Director General of the Vidyapeeth, said the scheme would be implemented in Engineering College and JCD Polytechnic from the current academic session as per guidelines laid down by All India Council for Technical Education.

Under the scheme, no tuition fee would be charged from these students who would form ten per cent strength of total admissions in B Tech programmes.

Dr Dhindsa said that currently the admission capacity of B Tech programmes in the Vidyapeeth was 240. Consequently, 24 students would enjoy the benefit of tuition fee waiver.

Likewise, 30 students in diploma programmes would not have to pay any tuition fee.

The beneficiaries of this scheme would save about Rs 45,000 and 30,000 per annum respectively for degree and diploma courses on account of tuition fee waiver.
