Australian Minister holds talks on port development

Chennai, Oct 10 (UNI) Australian Minister for Small Busines, Regulatory Reform, Ports and Waterways Joe Tripodi today called on Tamil Nadu Highways and Ports Minister Vellakoil Saminathan at the Secretariat and held discussions on the development of minor ports in the state besides the scope for private investments in the port sector.

During the meeting, officials concerned explained the new port policy of the Tamil Nadu Government and the potential for development of ports in the state.

Mr Vellakoil also explained the scope for development of ports in coastal regions of Tamil Nadu, particularly the Colachel Port as an international transhipment port.

The visiting delegates expressed their interest in bringing investments for port development in Tamil Nadu.
