Dates' sales up during 'Ramadan'

Srinagar, Oct. 06 2007: Jammu and Kashmir is witnessing an increase in the sale of date fruits during the holy month of Ramadan, as Muslims break their 'Roza' with this fruit.

During this month Muslims do not take food or water from dawn to dusk. They eat at Sehri -a pre-dawn meal and the day-end Iftar, that is breaking of the fast. Instead of water, most people prefer to break their fasts with date fruits.
