Pratibha Patil to visit Amravati
Nagpur, Oct 9 (UNI) President Pratibha Patil will be on a brief visit to Amravati in Vidarbha region of Maharashtra over the weekend.
This would be her first visit to her 'sasural' (in-law's place) after being elected President. Ms Patil would be accorded a public felicitation in the city, according to official sources.
According to her tentative programme, Ms Patil would arrive here from New Delhi by air on Saturday morning, and immediately proceed to Amravati by helicopter, the sources said.
She would attend the felicitation programme on Saturday evening, and camp there for the night. The President would leave for Nagpur by helicopter on Sunday morning, and proceed to Hyderabad by air immediately afterwards, the sources said.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra Governor S M Krishna would also be on a brief visit to the region over the weekend.
Mr Krishna would arrive here by a service flight on Friday evening and camp at 'Raj Bhawan' here for the night, an official press release said here. On Saturday, he would proceed to Amravati along with the President by helicopter, it said.
After attending Ms Patil's felicitation function at Amravati, Mr Krishna would return to Nagpur and camp here for the night. He would return to Mumbai by a service flight on Sunday morning, the release added.
