Mysore Zoo gets female giraffe for captive breeding
Mysore, Oct 8 (UNI) With the arrival of a two-year-old female giraffe from Lucknow zoo, the Mysore Zoo authorities' long drawn out search for one to continue captive breeding has been fulfilled.
Zoo Director Vijayaranjan Singh said here today that 'Kushi' was brought here after a 2,400-km-long arduous journey last evening as part of an exchange programme involving a pair of chimpanzees.
Expressing happiness over finding a female for the three young males, Chamaraja, Krishnaraja and Narasimharaja, he said this would further boost the breeding activities.
The authorities were on the look out for a young female for the past two years as the giraffe at Mysore Zoo had become old for mating.
