Multifaculty mungbean project for HAU

Hisar, Oct 9 (UNI) The Centre has allotted a multidisciplinary research project worth Rs 1,15 crore to Haryana Agricultural University for .

The varsity Vice-Chancellor Dr J C Katyal today said that the tenure of the ambitious project, allotted by the Department of Biotechnology, Central Ministry of Science and Technology, would be four years.

He said that the project titled 'Tailoring plant, food and social sciences to empower local mungbean production and consumption pattern', aimed at developing early maturing high yielding and nutritious varieties of mungbean according to the agro-climatic conditions of different regions.

Under the this project, scientists would work on utilisation of mung production by way of preparation and preservation of different nutritious mung products at local level.

Special care would be taken to ensure that the mung production and products after its processing may have adequate quantity of iron and zinc.
