Junagadh, Oct 9 (UNI) Junagadh sub-divisional magistrate D D Jadeja has ordered all organisers of 'garba' not to use microphones past midnight here yesterday.

The magistrate also asked the police to see that the order is implemented in toto and necessary steps are taken against the defaulters.

In a petition filed by the Junagadh City Vikas Manch Chief Jayendrasinh Jadhav and advocate and Convenor of 'One Man Army' Kiritbhai Sanghvi, it was argued that it is necessary to restrict the usage of microphones past midnight to check noise pollution during the festival of 'Navratri'. Though the mamlatdar gives permission to 'garba' organisers he does not restrict the usage of microphones, they contended.

This was seconded by leading citizens of the city in an affidavit. Those who signed the affidavit include Chinnibhai Lodia, Priyakant Awasiya, advocate Girish Mashroo, advocate Hema Shukla, doctor Mayank Shah and I-T practitioner J B Mankad.
