Gujarat electoral officer issues directives to cable operators

Gandhinagar, Oct 9 (UNI) Gujarat's Chief Electoral Officer Vinod Babbar today issued directives to television cable operators in the state to air only certified election campaigning videos of any political party for the forthcoming Assembly elections.

Mr Babbar, in an official statement here, directed the cable operators to air election campaigning videos of any political parties which have been certified by the appointed committee of the Election Commission.

Any erring cable operators or channels will be punished under the Election Commission Cable Television (regulation) Act-1995, Cable Television Network (regulation) rule-1994 and Directives of the Supreme Court under SLP (civil) No 6679/2004, the statement added.
