Two suicides by students in East Delhi

New Delhi, Oct 8 (UNI) Two suicides rocked city's East District with two students hanging themselves.

In the first incident, Shaurya Singh (18), a student of engineering at Bhartiya Vidyapeeth, allegedly hanged himself from the ceiling fan at his Arjun Nagar residence in Anand Vihar.

Shaurya, who was also preparing for the IIT from a Paschim Vihar institute, was depressed for not having 'made his mark' in a family of achievers, said the police.

''While his father is a scientist in Pusa Institute, his mother is a teacher in Central School and sister an officer in a financial company.'' Shaurya had appeared twice for the IIT but failed to make it.

Last night, when no body was at home, he hanged himself.

No suicide note has been found.

In the second case, 22-year-old Sumit Gupta, an undergraduate of Swami Dayanand College - Chandigarh, was today found hanging from the fan at his Geeta Colony residence.

Also pursuing a computer course from NIIT, Sumit had come to Delhi on Friday, said the police.

In his suicide note he said he had no interest in studies, and that the money sent by his father for fees had been spent by him on 'other things', police added.
