The sadhus, who participated in the Ram Sethu Rakhaya Jatra in the state, also demanded Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunannidhi to publicly apologise for his defamatory remarks on Lord Ram and Tulis Das's Ram Charit Manas.

Sachidanandaji Maharaj of Dhinkipita mutt of Puri lambasted both Central and Tamil Nadu Governments and warned of dire consequence, if they did not concede their demand.

Rameswaram Sri Ram Sethu Rakhaya Mancha State spokesman Simanchal Khatua claimed that the Ram Sethu Rakhaya jatra, kicked off on Saturday, got good response from the people of Orissa.

Five Jatras from different parts of the state will culminate at five different places on October 10, he said.

The jatra was kicked off from Puri yesterday and reached here today where a meeting was held in which several religious gurus criticised Mr Karunanidhi for his remark on Lord Ram and demanded scrapping of the project.
